4th Hotel CSR Award: Call for entries now open

The InterMundial Foundation has opened the call for entries for the 4th edition of the Hotel CSR Award, an accolade established in 2012 to recognize and highlight the daily efforts of Spanish hotels in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The award, organized by the InterMundial Foundation in partnership with Tourism&Law and the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (CEHAT), is held every two years and features three categories corresponding to the three pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility: environmental, social, and economic.

Any hotel that has implemented socially responsible policies over the last two years and belongs to a federation or association that is a member of CEHAT is eligible to apply. Hotels interested in participating in this edition of the award must submit their entry online using the form available on the website.

According to Manuel López, trustee of the InterMundial Foundation, this award serves as “a stimulus for hotel companies committed to social responsibility in their projects and initiatives. At InterMundial, we view CSR as a strategic differentiator capable of optimizing the entire value chain of tourism businesses.”

As noted by CEHAT Secretary General Ramón Estalella, “It is an honor to have the participation and collaboration of the InterMundial Foundation in creating and promoting the Corporate Social Responsibility awards. We believe InterMundial continues to set an example in the areas we must focus on: social, economic, and environmental responsibility. Spanish companies, and hotels in particular, are beginning to implement CSR policies not only to attract new customers but to apply sustainability criteria in an increasingly transparent and competitive environment, where employees themselves should feel proud of their work. CSR will make a major difference in the future between companies that can adapt to the market and changing situations by contributing back to society what they have received from it.”

The submission period for entries opens tomorrow, Thursday, March 1, and will close on Friday, April 20, 2018. The award will be presented during the CEHAT Spanish Hoteliers Congress, which will take place this year in the city of Malaga from May 30 to June 1.

Previous editions

In the last edition of the award, held in 2016, the winners of the Hotel CSR Award were Le Méridien Barcelona in the Social category, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts in the Economic category, and Hotel Sierra de Cazorla in the category dedicated to environmental initiatives.

Meanwhile, in 2014, the hotels honored with this award were Cordial Mogán Playa, Barcelona Princess, and Fuerte El Rompido, while in 2012, the winners were Ilunion Hotels, NH Hotel Group, and The Westin Valencia.
