InterMundial, Fitur, and the UNWTO announce the third edition of the Responsible Tourism Award
Madrid, October 30, 2019.
FundaciónInterMundial, in collaboration with the International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), announces the third edition of the Responsible Tourism Award, an accolade that recognizes the efforts and commitment of tourism companies to achieving tourism that is responsible and sustainable for society, the environment, and the economy.
To be eligible for this award, which received 70 entries from 7 countries in its second edition, companies must be exhibitors at Fitur 2020 and submit the initiatives they have implemented over the last two years to promote the development of responsible and sustainable tourism. Furthermore, since last year, the award has also included a blogosphere category, open to blogs that have promoted responsible tourism practices through their content, raising awareness among their readers.
Anyone interested in participating must complete the registration form found on the Fundación InterMundial website and the Fitur website, and send it to the email address premios@fundacionintermundial.es by January 3, 2020. You can consult the official rules for the call for entries on the same page.
As in the previous edition, companies wishing to participate in the Responsible Tourism Award can submit their entries in four categories differentiated by sector. These are:
- Hospitality (accommodation, catering, and related services).
- Transport, tourism products, and services (transportation, airports, incentives and congresses, tour operators, agencies, leisure, health, etc.).
- Tourism destinations.
- Blogosphere.
The jury, composed of prominent tourism industry professionals, will select a winner for each of the four categories in January. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held during Fitur 2020, taking place from January 22nd to 26th.
The Responsible Tourism Award continues to strengthen the InterMundial Foundation's commitment to showcasing the benefits that sustainable tourism brings to society and the environment within a socioeconomic and environmental context, with the goal of minimizing negative impacts. The Foundation continues to work on fostering research in pursuit of responsible and high-quality tourism development.
