Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award

About the award

The Interworld Foundation, in collaboration with FITUR and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), announces a new edition of the Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award. This award recognizes the involvement of tourism companies that work for the development and activation of tourism that is responsible for the environment, the economy and local society.

The 7th Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award consists of five categories:

Hospitality

This category covers a wide range of services, from accommodations to restaurants and other related services. The commitment to sustainable practices, such as the efficient use of resources, the reduction of waste and the promotion of local culture in the tourist offer, is valued.

Transportation, tourism products and services

It includes not only means of transport, such as planes, trains or vehicles, but also services that facilitate tourist experiences, such as travel agencies, tour operators, leisure activities, health and wellness programs. It seeks to recognize those who promote accessibility, eco-efficiency and innovation in their tourism services.

Destination

This category focuses on the countries that participate in FITUR. It seeks to recognize destinations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to sustainability, the preservation of the natural and cultural environment, and the promotion of responsible tourism practices for visitors and local communities.

Social Media

Here we consider the impact of bloggers, influencers and social media who have actively promoted responsible tourism actions and practices. The dissemination of messages that raise awareness of the importance of traveling ethically and sustainably is valued.

Communication media

This category recognizes journalists and media that, through their informative work, have significantly contributed to promoting and deepening the analysis of responsible tourism. Research, reports and coverage that generates reflection and awareness about sustainability in the tourism sector are valued.

Who can participate

All companies registered as exhibitors at FITUR 2024 are eligible to participate. The organizing companies and any entities directly affiliated with them are not eligible to participate in this award.

Submission Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications has been extended from December 5 to January 8, 2024, at 11:59 PM (GMT+1), inclusive.
