The InterMundial Foundation, FITUR, and ITH are launching the first Responsible Tourism Award
In the context of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development proclaimed by the UN, the InterMundial Foundation, in collaboration with FITUR and the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), is launching the first Responsible Tourism Award, aimed at recognizing the commitment of tourism companies working toward the development and promotion of tourism that advocates for environmentally, economically, and socially responsible practices. Responsible tourism that gives back to society, promotes respect for the environment, and fosters sustainable economic growth.
The Award is open to all companies exhibiting at FITUR 2018 that have been working toward responsible tourism over the last two years, whether by implementing specific operational policies or measures, or through customer-facing initiatives. Interested companies must submit their applications by December 12th to the email address premios@fundacionintermundial.es, and complete the registration form found on the FITUR website.
The Award consists of 3 categories, based on the sector to which the participating company belongs:
- Hospitality (accommodation, catering, and related services)
- Transport (means of transport, airports, ports, and others)
- Tourism products and services (incentives and congresses, tour operators, agencies, leisure, health, etc.)
The jury, composed of renowned professionals from the tourism sector, will select one winner per category. In addition, there will be a special jury mention for tourist destinations that have also implemented responsible tourism policies. Applications for this category must also be submitted by sending the corresponding form to premios@fundacionintermundial.es.
The awards ceremony will take place at FITUR 2018, as part of the FiturtechY section (Hall 10).
