T&L celebrates the 2nd edition of Law & Friends, its networking event for tourism professionals
Madrid, November 29, 2019.
Tourism & Law, a law firm specializing in legal advice for tourism companies, held the second edition of Law & Friends, its annual meeting for tourism professionals. During the event, which took place at the Club Financiero Génova in Madrid, the firm's clients and industry professionals gathered to review the year and address the industry's future challenges together.
Francisco Javier del Nogal, Deputy General Manager of Grupo InterMundial, of which Tourism & Law is a part, opened the event by welcoming attendees and thanking them for their trust throughout 2019. During his speech, Del Nogal highlighted the most relevant and significant matters the firm handled throughout the year, such as the legal defense of airlines against the significant increase in lawsuits driven by specialists in these types of claims, the advice and support provided to the hotel sector following the Thomas Cook bankruptcy, and the adaptations to new legislation regarding data protection and package travel for companies in the sector.
Next, María Paz Abad, recently appointed Director of Tourism & Law following her previous tenure as the firm's Deputy Director, took the floor to highlight the importance of having a team of lawyers fully specialized in the tourism sector. Abad also thanked all the tourism representatives for their presence at the event and, especially, the words of confidence from clients such as Grupo AVASA, Miramar Cruises, Mundojoven México or DePolo a Polo they wanted to highlight the T&L team to showcase the added value of the firm's expertise in tourism matters, which was displayed on the various television screens throughout the event.
Finally, to wrap up this second Law & Friends, Manuel López, CEO of Grupo InterMundial, highlighted during his speech how “Tourism & Law has gained significant influence within the Group in recent years, establishing itself in the sector and becoming a true benchmark for legal matters for tourism companies”. Furthermore, López invited Carlos Garrido, recently appointed President of CEAV, and Joan Molas, current president of CEHAT, to share in this moment.
Carlos Garridoemphasized that, as the new head of the confederation, he will continue, as he has done his entire life, “working alongside travel agencies” and took the opportunity to highlight the importance of having—in such a rapidly changing environment— “a partner like Tourism & Law, capable of offering the most specialized legal advice for every situation”. For his part, Joan Molas explained that “at CEHAT, whenever I bring up that we have some kind of legal problem, I am corrected: we don't have one, we have Tourism & Law”.
