InterMundial provides the Health Plan for new cruise ship requirements
Starting June 7, international cruise ships will be allowed to dock in Spain again. To do so, cruise passenger vessels must comply with a series of health measures and requirements published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) in the Resolution of May 27, 2021, from the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.
InterMundial, a travel insurance specialist with over 25 years of experience, has designed a special Health Plan to address the concerns of the cruise industry and help them adapt to the new regulations required at all Spanish ports. In this way, InterMundial provides cruise lines with a comprehensive insurance solution that will allow them to adopt prevention, containment, and coordination measures in response to the health crisis.
Health measures plan
The Royal Decree requires international cruise ships to have a comprehensive plan for the prevention and mitigation of potential health risks derived from COVID-19, meaning operators must now protect themselves before the cruise begins. To meet these new requirements that must be fulfilled at all Spanish ports on the itinerary, InterMundial offers a package of health measures included in a single insurance policy:
- Agreements with medical centers to guarantee all the needs of patients diagnosed with COVID-19, as well as their proper treatment and follow-up.
- Comprehensive medical assistance, including COVID-19 coverage
- Performance of COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
- Coverage for accommodation and any necessary transfers, including those from the ship to the medical center or contracted facility, from the accommodation or hospital to the ship, from the ship to the airport, and air transfers.
- Repatriation of sick travelers and/or deceased persons, as well as any necessary crew changes.
Strategic alliance for a comprehensive solution
The new Health Plan that InterMundial provides to operators will allow for very agile adaptation to the protocols before June 7, as they will be able to meet all the new health requirements and measures demanded at all national ports through a single insurance solution.
Thus, all cruise ships intending to make international journeys visiting Spanish ports now have a tool for the prevention of any COVID-19 health emergency, made possible thanks to an ambitious alliance between travel insurance specialist InterMundial, one of Spain's leading hospital groups, the leading health insurance provider, and the Analiza laboratory network.
Manuel López, CEO of Grupo InterMundial, highlighted: "This Health Plan that we are putting into the hands of cruise lines has been made possible thanks to intense teamwork in which all partners have worked with a single goal in mind: to provide the necessary tool to help cruise companies reactivate the sector."
